    Cedarwood Essential Oil
    Cedarwood essential oil has a mild scent, compared to other oils, but because of that it makes an excellent base for blending other oils. The light, clean scent that it does have is excellent for taming tension and easing stress, and for this reason, cedarwood is often associated with harmony in holistic healing. Cedarwood essential oil can be a skin irritant for some people, so it’s best used in dispensers or other non-contact methods. Cedarwood essential oil is best blended with other evergreens or with citrus oils, but it has the remarkable talent of bringing together such seemingly diverse scents as Lavender and lemon oil, or spruce and gardenia; hence its reputation for harmony, no doubt. Different people use cedarwood essential oil in different ways, of course, but in general, it’s best used as a base.     Cinnamon essential oil is steam distilled from the bark and leaves of the cinnamomum zeylanicum plant. The oil obtained is of different potency depending on which part of the plant is used. The plant has its origin in Vietnam, but it is grown in a number of tropical areas like India, China, Madagascar, Brazil, and the Caribbean. The oil is of golden yellow to brown color, with a slightly oily feeling.     Also known as Olibanum, frankincense essential oil is steam distilled from the resin of the Boswellia plant. The Boswellia plant is grown from eastern Africa, through southern Arabia, to north western India. Frankincense essential oil is obtained from a selection of Boswellia plants. Boswellia carterii and boswellia frereana are from Somalia, boswellia sacra is from southern Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Oman, while the boswellia serrata is from India. Frankincense oil is of light, pale yellow to greenish yellow, and has a thin consistency. Its aromatic description is listed as fresh, woody, balsamic, slightly spicy and fruity, and peppery. It has a mild to medium initial aroma, and is used as a base note in perfumery.
